Friendship stories for children
Nikki was little girl with a large imagination. Her parents loved listening to her stories. One day Nikki made a friend. His name was Busy Bee. He was nice and she played with Busy Bee all day long. Nikki even introduced Busy Bee to her parents. That night Nikki asked her mom and dad if Busy Bee could stay overnight. They said yes. Nikki and Busy Bee were so happy.
The next morning Busy Bee ate breakfast with them. Busy Bee stayed and played all day. Soon Busy Bee moved in. He lived in Nikki’s window. Busy Bee rode on Nikki's shoulders or in her hands, wherever she went. They were best friends. Nikki loved to suck her thumb and guess what, so did Busy Bee! Busy Bee was always buzzing in Nikki’s ear and making her giggle.
On Christmas Eve Busy Bee went with Nikki and her parents to Nikki’s aunt and uncle’s house. Nikki’s cousins teased her about Busy Bee and pretended to squish him in their hands. One cousin even tried to sit on Busy Bee. Nikki cried, until Busy Bee buzzed in her ear. Mommy said Busy Bee had been hiding in the Christmas tree all along. They decided Busy Bee would stay home from now on.
One summer day her parents told Nikki that she was going to be a big sister. “What does that mean?” Nikki asked. “It means that you will have a little brother or sister to play with!” Mommy said. Nikki and Busy Bee were very excited.
Then one spring day, Nikki’s baby brother, Mike, was born! On that day, Busy Bee met his girlfriend. Soon, Nikki was busy with her little brother and Busy Bee was busy with his girlfriend. Nikki and Busy Bee did not play together a lot anymore, but every night before they went to sleep, they would tell each other about their day.
When Nikki was five years old and Mike was two years old, Aunt Vicki got married. Nikki was the flower girl. That day Busy Bee also got married. Busy Bee and his wife went to California for their honeymoon. Busy Bee liked California so much, that he decided to move there. Nikki was not too sad to see him go, because she had her little brother, Mike to play with. However, she left a space in her window for Busy Bee, just in case he decided to visit.
Busy Bee came to visit once. He brought his whole family. He had his wife and seven little bees. They could not stay long. Busy Bee had to get back to work, getting ready for the long winter. Nikki did not hear from Busy Bee much after that. She knew he was still in California. She knew Busy Bee was very happy with his family - just as she was.
Sometimes Nikki wonders how Busy Bee is doing and knows Busy Bee is wondering the same thing. For now Nikki is very busy… with her very, busy little brother.
